By Chanting Krsna’s Holy Names – Indradyumna Swami Nectar

His preaching tour in Russia completed, His Holiness Indradyumna Swami has been relishing the Holy Names in association with all the Devotees at the Sadhu Sanga Kirtan retreat.

Regarding chanting, he recently quoted on his Facebook page:

“An abominable sinner—a resident of hell—can easily become a devotee of the Lord by chanting Krsna’s holy names. Thus he can ascend from hell and enter into the highest spiritual abode of the Lord.” [Nrsimha Purana ]

Manohara, “Who attracts the mind” – Indradyumna Swami Nectar

Manohara, “Who attracts the mind” – Indradyumna Swami Nectar

“When we come to each of these individual places, we absorb ourselves in all of those specific characteristics of that holy place. Krishna is called Manohara, one of His unlimited names. Manohara means ‘Who attracts the mind’. We control our mind by fixing it on hearing in Vrindavan of the beautiful pastimes of the Lord. This is the best way to control the mind. One day our minds and our hearts will be spontaneously attracted to all these wonderful pastimes of Krishna.”

“Everything becomes auspicious” – Indradyumna Swami Nectar

“There’s always a happy ending in Krishna Consciousness. This is a transcendental movement. If we’re sincere and we’re practicing nicely, eventually everything becomes auspicious.”

“Every single door must be knocked on” – Srila Bhaktisiddhanta quoted by Indradyumna Swami

“Every single door must be knocked on” – Srila Bhaktisiddhanta quoted by Indradyumna Swami

“Everyone’s auspiciousness will come by preaching about Lord Caitanya. Like itinerant merchants you should take the wares of Caitanya-vani throughout the globe. If necessary, go to all four corners of the earth. Violence to oneself and others under the name of nirjana-bhajan must be stopped. Every single door must be knocked on at least once. If the inhabitants sincerely inquire as to which manner of hari-bhajan may be performed aright, tell them that the only way is through the bhaktivinode-dhara, the line of Bhaktivinode Thakur.”

[ From an address at the disappearance festival of Srila Thakur Bhaktivinode in 1936. Quoted in Bhaktisiddhanta Vaibhava, volume 1, by Bhakti Vikas Swami. Also in Sri Krishna Kathamrita Bindhu, issue no. 412 ]

Real friendship – From a lecture by Indradyumna Swami

Real friendship – From a lecture by Indradyumna Swami

“This is real friendship—Krsna consciousness. Everyone needs a friend, right? A friend in need is a friend indeed. So people from all walks of life have friends. But only in Krishna Consciousness can you find a true friend. Because in the material world, friendship is based on sense gratification, isn’t it? You like the same type of food (I won’t mention the food), the same kind of music (I won’t mention the music), the same kind of cars, the same girls, the same boys. So you become involved, you become entangled.”

Concentrated Nectar – From a lecture by Indradyumna Swami

Concentrated Nectar – From a lecture by Indradyumna Swami

“Ter Kadamba is a very sacred place and it’s for that reason that one of the greatest acharyas in our disciples succession made this place, which was really a jungle in those days, as one of his places of bhajan. What does bhajan mean?

Hare Krsna Hare Krsna

Krsna Krsna Hare Hare

Hare Rama Hare Rama

Rama Rama Hare Hare

22 hours a day! In a deeper sense, bhajan means that the pure Devotee is pouring his heart out to the Divine Couple, Radha and Krsna. And sometimes while doing so, like Jesus said, “My cup runneth over with love.” Sometimes the ecstatic symptoms of love of Godhead become manifest on the body of the pure Devotee. And this whole area became permeated with the bhava, or love, of Srila Rupa Goswami for the Divine Couple. And because it’s transcendental, it’s eternal. It’s still here. So as the ether, a very subtle element becomes contaminated by sin, similarly the ether becomes purified and becomes full of prema by the presence of the pure Devotee. So this here at Ter Kadamba is concentrated nectar.”

Because He loves you – From a lecture by Indradyumna Swami

Because He loves you – From a lecture by Indradyumna Swami

In the multitude of living entities—and there’s how many? Unlimited living entities! Nevertheless, in that multitude of living entities, Krsna can see His devotee in the midst. How? Because He loves you. How does He love you? You are just beginning! But still, in a family if there’s danger, the parents give immediate attention to the infants, to the babies. And He knows you’re there, because He can hear you. Because from your tongue, you always have His sweet Holy Names on your tongue:

Hare Krsna Hare Krsna

Krsna Krsna Hare Hare

Hare Rama Hare Rama

Rama Rama Hare Hare

Real or symbolic – Lecture excerpt quoted by Indradyumna Swami

Real or symbolic – Lecture excerpt quoted by Indradyumna Swami

Devotee: “It says in the scriptures that Lord Brahma rides on a swan. Do we take this to mean it’s a real swan, or is it symbolic?”

Prabhupada: “Not symbolic, it is fact. Why do you say symbolic?”

Devotee: “Because it’s rather unusual.”

Prabhupada: “Unusual? What experience have you got? (laughter) You have no experience. Have you got experience of other planetary systems, what is there? Your experience is very tiny. So you should not calculate Brahma’s life and other things by your tiny experience.”

“All perfections come from the holy name” – Excerpt quoted by Indradyumna Swami

“All perfections come from the holy name” – Excerpt quoted by Indradyumna Swami

“I am overjoyed to hear that your enthusiasm for chanting is increasing. As our contaminations are removed by chanting, the Lord’s form, qualities, and pastimes will be revealed to us in the holy name. There is no point in making a separate effort to artificially remember the Lord’s form, qualities, and pastimes. The Lord and His name are one and the same. This will be understood clearly when the coverings in your heart are removed. By chanting without offenses you will personally realize that all perfections come from the holy name.”

Hear the Holy Name distinctly – Quoted by Indradyumna Swami

Hear the Holy Name distinctly – Quoted by Indradyumna Swami

“The devotee should make it a regular practice to spend a little time alone in a quiet place and concentrate deeply on the holy name. He should utter and hear the name distinctly. It is impossible for the jiva to singlehandedly avoid and overcome the illusion of distraction. By the mercy of the Lord, however, this is accomplished with ease.”
